Simple Bacon and Bean Sprouts Stir Fry

Bacon, bean sprouts, and spinach stir fry on a plate

Stir fry is very popular and easy to cook dish, and very filling. I often eat this with beer at dinner time and being relaxing is one of my most favorite moment. In Japanese culture, some people just eat small side dish and some alcohol at night time, called banshaku. I often do banshaku with this type of dishes.

Ingredients

  • 100 g Bacon
  • 250 g Bean Sprouts
  • 100 g Spinach
  • 60 g Onion
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tsp Oil

Instructions

  • The bacon should be cut into easy-to-eat sized pieces and the spinach into 3cm pieces. The onions should be sliced.
  • Begin sauteing the bacon in a frying pan with some oil. Once the bacon is somewhat cooked, add and saute the bean sprouts, spinach stems, and onions. Once the added vegetables begin to soften, add in the spinach leaves.
  • Finish up by adding salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

I used what ingredients I had around the house to make a simple vegetable stir fry. As the stems of the spinach are a bit harder than the leaves, make sure to heat them first. With the saltiness of the bacon, simply adding salt & pepper was sufficient flavoring.
